Southeast Asia Group

The Southeast Asia Group (SEAGASE) seeks to develop and promote the study of Southeast Asia in Quebec. This group consists of a consortium of specialists working on this region in the following universities : the University of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM), the University of Montreal (UdM), McGill University, Concordia University and University Laval in Quebec City.

Through the exchange of information and knowledge, the members of SEAGASE teaching in various universities in Quebec in English and French seek to offer stimulating and collegial training to students interested in pursuing advanced studies either in one of the eleven Southeast Asian states (Burma, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, East Timor, and Vietnam) or on regional questions.

In addition, the SEAGASE web site allows for an efficient coordination and announcement of course offerings, events, and resources, including the circulation of information on specialized language training programs and opportunities to take part in developing and current research projects and exchanges.

Lastly, SEAGASE will serve as a platform for organizing meetings and activities by and for students. The web site will constitute the main means of communication and networking but will not exclude other sources of information on Southeast Asian studies in Quebec.
